A new chapter for Butter, with Miro

Workshops are where innovation starts.

Whether it’s a startup defining its next big move or a global enterprise navigating massive change, workshops are where the magic happens. They bring teams together, moving beyond “what ifs” to “what’s next.”

We started Butter when the world went remote in early 2020. We were facilitating workshops ourselves to help remote teams navigate the new world. But something was missing.

Facilitators were overloaded by the number of tools they needed to use to create an engaging workshop. Participants were disconnected and confused. There had to be a better way.

So we got to work! 💪

Our co-founder & CPO Chris sketched out the first version of Butter’s bright yellow app. Our co-founder & CTO Adam whipped up a prototype in just a week (pre-AI era, when that was still an insane feat!). Then our CGO Cheska and I spent months talking to facilitators, learning what they needed. The first year flew by in a happy blur of user interviews, building, and refining.

We’ve since then built a product laser focused on facilitation - because we believe that great collaboration requires great facilitation.

Since then, Butter has powered thousands of high-energy workshops—without tool overload, tech headaches, or awkward silences. More than just software, we built a passionate community of facilitators who helped us shape Butter into what it is today.

Together, we proved that great collaboration starts with great facilitation.

Now, we’re starting a new chapter, combining our skills, knowledge and expertise with Miro. 

Why Miro?

Miro has redefined visual collaboration for millions, and it’s always been a favorite tool among our community. The Miro-Butter integration still gets highlighted as one of the most amazing things people love about Butter!

We’ve always been impressed by how their canvas enables teams to think, create, and innovate together. 

The Butter team will be joining Miro in a move that allows us to take our ambitions even further. We’re bringing Butter’s deep facilitation expertise into Miro’s ecosystem—helping take workshops and collaboration to the next level.
